At 14, I attended a church service where, instead of a traditional sermon, the congregation of 100 people began speaking in tongues. As I knelt before God, the preacher placed his hand on me, continuing in this foreign language. Others soon joined in, creating a surreal experience with not a single mention of Jesus, the cross, or the resurrection. Despite my fear, I stood firm, even as the entire church connected hands to me, all speaking in tongues. Overwhelmed and scared, I eventually dove to the ground, closing my eyes until I was carried out of the church.

Seven years ago, I attended church again, raising my hand as the preacher requested. Suddenly, a shock hit my hand, causing me to pull back. Determined, I braced myself and raised my hand again, only to be shocked so intensely that my knees gave out. I crawled out of the church, feeling the shock again at home.
