The Gospel of Luke states that Jesus was “about thirty years of age” when he began his ministry, which is estimated to have started around 27-29 AD. This period marked a significant turning point in his life as he embarked on a mission to preach, heal, and spread the message of God’s kingdom.

“Christ” is not Jesus’ last name, but rather a title derived from the Greek word “Christos,” meaning “Anointed One” or “Messiah.” In Jesus’ time, people didn’t have last names as we do today, and he was often referred to as “Jesus of Nazareth” to distinguish him from others with the same name.

According to John 6:42. “They said, ‘Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How can he now say, “I came down from heaven”’?”

Jesus’s birth divides history, marking the transition from BC (Before Christ) to AD (Anno Domini, “in the year of the Lord”). However, historical evidence suggests Jesus was likely born before 4 BC, as the death of King Herod, a key figure in the nativity story, occurred around that time.⁽^ref⁾

While the exact date is uncertain, his birth is commemorated on December 25th by Christians worldwide as Christmas.

Many scholars debate the traditional date of Jesus’ birth, questioning whether shepherds would tend their flocks at night during the winter’s coldest months.

In the Gospels, Jesus is often referred to as “the carpenter” or “the carpenter’s son,” suggesting he likely learned and practiced the trade alongside his father, Joseph.

This profession would have involved crafting various items from wood, such as furniture, tools, and building materials, providing for his family and the community.

Jesus likely spoke multiple languages. The primary language of everyday communication in Judea during Jesus’ time was Aramaic. However, Jesus would have also encountered and used other languages, such as Hebrew and Greek.⁽^ref⁾

Christmas nativity scenes often depict three wise men, likely due to their association with the three gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. However, the Bible doesn’t specify the number of Magi who journeyed from the east to visit the infant Jesus.

These acts, including healing the sick, casting out demons, and even raising the dead, were seen as signs of his divine power and authority. They played a crucial role in attracting followers and spreading his message.

He used everyday stories and metaphors to illustrate spiritual truths, making his teachings accessible and relatable to his audience. These parables, like the Good Samaritan and the Prodigal Son, continue to be studied and interpreted by Christians today.
